Later we will handle other dotted notes as well, maybe it is easy to always think of the number 3 when you see a dotted note.

Lesson 9 Dotted Quarter Notes
In this lesson we will look at the dotted quarter note. On page 17 you will see that the dotted quarter note carries 3 eighth notes. In theory you should say that when a note is dotted it adds up half it’s value to it. So a dotted quarter note adds one eighth note (= half it’s value) to it. Later we will handle other dotted notes as well, maybe it is easy to always think of the number 3 when you see a dotted note.
